The Downs were quickest to settle on the restart and they got a vital goal to extend their lead.Michael Fagan kept Garrycastle in the game with a couple of vital saves and a fine individual goal from Cormac Langan kept Garrycastle in contention.Garrycastle team were unable to breach the Downs defence and get a final goal and ended up losing by 2 points on a final score of Garrycastle 2-6 to Downs 1-11.Team: Michael Fagan,Sean Gunning,Cian White,Frank Farrell,Cian Hayden,Cormac Langan(1-0),Jack Mc Gann,Emmett Brennan,Terry Rushe,Hugh Moody(0-1),Conor Duignan,Paul Gunning(1-4) ,Kenneth Dolan(0-1), & Donal Byrne.

Garrycastle played Castledaly under floodlights in Garrycastle on Monday night last..Garrycastle were short a number of players and this match gave a number of their fringe players a chance to stake a place on the team for the championship and they didn't disappoint the selectors.
Garrycastle were in a determined mood from the start and some good direct football yielded some fine scores and they were fortunate to get a goal when a long kick from Paul Gunning ended up in the Castledaly net .The half-time score was Garrycastle 1-6 to Castle 0-4.
Garrycastle began to dominate midfield in the second-half and this ensured the forwards got a plenty supply of the ball and this yielded a fine goal from Emmett Brennan and good interplay between the forwards ended with Michael Monaghan putting the ball in the Castledaly net.The final score was Garrycastle 3-15 Castledaly 0-7.Garrycastle team: Michael Fagan,Sean Gunning(0-1),Cian White,Frank Farrell,Conor Duignan,Cian Hayden,Jack Mc Gann,Mark Curly,Michael Monaghan(1-5),Emmett Brennan(1-0),Terry Rushe,Eric Kearney(0-1),Kenneth Dolan,Paul Gunning(1-4),Donal Byrne,& Mark Duffy(0-2).
Garrycastle minor team are showing great commitment this year and the defeat to the Downs was only their second defeat in competitive matches this year and hopefully this will continue for the championship.
We wish the best of luck to all our lads who are doing Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate exams and look forwards to their continued commitment after their exams are over.
Their last league match is against Malachy's/ Ballinagore.

U10s
The street leagues kicked off last Saturday. There was a great turn out from all four teams. The opening game saw Ballymahon rd/ Cornamaddy beat Coosan. This was great disply from both teams. At half time, Ballymahon rd/ Cornamaddy seemed to be in control but a great fight back from Coosan saw a very exciting finish to the game.

The second game saw last years winners, Moydrum being defeated by Retreat. Retreat looked very good or their win but its worth noting than Moydrum lots the opener in last years tournament and went on to win it. Well done to all involved.
Street league resumes next Sunday.

Seniors
The seniors suffered a defeat in the division one league against Maryland. Both teams were missing key players due to county duty and a very good game was played out in Garrycastle last Saturday. Garrycastle held a lead going into the last fifteen minutes but a spirited finish from a very fit Maryland helped them to a deserved victory by 3 points. Match report to follow.
