Lough Lene Gaels Hurling notes
May 20, 2012
Senior Hurling
Our Senior hurlers were due to play St. Oliver Plunkett's in a senior league fixture in Collinstown on Monday 21st May last. More on this in next week's notes. Training for our first round championship tie against Castletown continues on the arranged nights.
Collinstown/Fore Community Alert
Collinston/Fore Community Alert Organisation are holding their Annual General Meeting in Collinstown Hall on on Monday May 28th at 8.30pm. This meeting is open to all residents of Collinstown, Fore, Drumcree and surrounding townslands.
Table Quiz
A table quiz in aid of Breast Cancer Research will be held in Hotel Castlepollard on Friday June 1st starting at 9pm. Entry fee per team of four is 20 euro and your support would be very much appreciated.
Lotto
A hurling and camogie club lotto draw was held on Sunday May 13th in the Lough Lene Inn for a jackpot of 4,600 euro. This was not won on draw night and no ticket entered in the draw matched any of the numbers drawn (12, 16, 21, 24). A draw for six prizes of 25 euro each then took place. The results of that draw are as follows; Michael Carroll, Newlands, Mullingar, Kevin/Saoirse Corrigan c/o Abbey House, Fore, Elizabeth Hannon, Cummerstown, Collinstown, Vincent Clarke, c/o David Kelly, Barry O' Donnell, Collinstown and Kevin Salmon, Cummerstown, Collinstown. Many thanks to our buyers and sellers.
Membership
Membership (Adult 20 euro, Juvenile 10, Social 15) is now due and we would appeal to anyone who has not paid the fee to do so as soon as possible as we are well down of fees from last year's numbers. Fees can be paid to Pat Keane, Sean Carr, Eamonn Potter or any of our club officers. Your co-operation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Bingo
Weekly bingo sessions take place on Tuesday nights in Collinstown Hall with the jackpot now fast approaching 17,500 euro. The club wishes to thank our loyal players and helpers. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the club.
Park
The club is very grateful to Dickie Carroll, Sean Brennan, Paul McGrath, Sean Egginton, Colm O' Neill and the Weldon brothers (amongst others) for their continued upkeep of our park.
Juvenile Affairs
Things are quiet largely due to exam time drawing closer. Our minors and U/16s will resume action after the exams . Our national schools team went under to Ballinagore and are out of contention for honours this year. This is a young team and we would hope to get a good run in next year's competition. The G.A.A Cul camp is set for July 2 - 6 in Collinstown Park. Our U/12s were in league action last week when they took on Clonkill, more on this shortly.
