One Direction
Westmeath chairman Tom Farrell has denied there has been an approach made by representatives of the boyband One Direction to stage a concert at Cusack Park in Mullingar.

Mullingar's Niall Horan, who is a member of the group which shot to fame on TV's X Factor and packed out Dublin's O2 last night, said in today's Irish Daily Star that his band had received an offer to play a concert in his hometown, but when contacted by hoganstand.com, Farrell said it was the first he had heard of it.

"I didn't hear anything about a concert in Cusack Park, but we won't turn it down if there's money to be made from it!" the Tang clubman jokingly remarked.

Eighteen-year-old Horan added that it's his dream to play in Croke Park.

"The reception I get when I come home is brilliant. We watched Westlife's documentary and looking at the view from the stage in Croke Park is amazing," he enthused.
