Recent Senior Result
St Oliver Plunketts 2.12, Castlepollard 3.10. Our senior hurlers were defeated by Castlepollard on Sunday evening last in the final round of the group stage of the championship. This game was a close affair throughout and with only minutes on the clock, Plunketts were leading by 2 points. Unfortunately Pollard grabbed a late goal and they progress to a semi final v Raharney. Our seniors now qualify for a quarter final fixture versus Ringtown in Cusack Park on Friday 3rd September at 6.15pm.
U14 v Longford
Our U-14 hurlers travelled to Edgeworthstown on Monday night Aug 9th to take on the Longford county team. This turned out to be an excellent game with the scores close for most of the game. Longford piled on the early pressure but Luke Byrne, Christopher Murphy, Andrew Allen & Niall Kevin helped keep the Longford men at bay. However they led by 2-4 to 1-3 at half time with our goal coming from Sean Lee. The second half was exciting & goals from Darragh Gray & Sean Lee again were the highlights. However, Longford levelled the game at the end & held on for a draw on a scoreline of 4-6 to 4-6. Among the players to shine were Conor O Brien, Ryan Purcell, Conor Bracken & Donal Liddy.
U14 v Crookedwood
Our U-14's hosted Crookedwood in the Championship on Saturday Aug 21st. Plunketts hit the ground running with an excellent Conor O Brien goal & took control of the game from an early stage. Paddy Lynam, Sean Lee, Donal Liddy & Danny Purcell all tagged on scores to give Plunketts a comfortable half time lead. Niall Kevin, Sean O Brien, Donal Liddy & Dylan Ledwith all added to the tally in the second half & OP ran out winners 10-15 to 0-6 in the end. Best for Plunketts were Stephen Hassett in goals, Christopher Murphy, Sean Flanagan, Sean Kelly, Luke Byrne, Neil O Toole & Darragh Grey.
U12 Report
Our under 12s made the trip to Athlone to take on Southern Gaels in the U12 Div 2 championship. Plunketts started very slowly and didn't match the hosts pace and intensity in the first half and shipped a heavy scoreline. But the second half was a much improved affair with Plunketts at least dominating for periods and getting on the score sheet. The mentors were happy that they showed character and worked hard on the night. Plunketts had a welcome return for Aidan Keena and Brian Reidy who were both coming back from injuries. There were good performances from Sean O'Brien, Padhraic McKenna, Jonathon Lynam and Shane Kelly in the 2nd half on the night. Team; Conor McKenna, Padhraic McKenna, Nathan Woods, Shane Kelly(C) Callum Wilson, Ross Corroon, Conor Mount, Sean O'Brien, Corey Wilson, Gary Greville, Aidan Keena, Aaron Kelly, Jamie Fitzgerald, Brian Reidy and Andrew Connaughton.
U10 Reports
Our Under 10s continued in good form with a well earned victory in Clonkill, defeating the home side 3-10 to 3-0.
Underage Fixtures
