Four teams through to IFC quarter-finals
August 05, 2010
Division 1 of the Westmeath IFC is done and dusted as far as the places for the knockout stages are concerned, while there are still two places up for grabs in Division 2 with one round of games still to play.
Bunbrosna are in pole position to top Division 1 and secure a semi-final berth, while Ballynacargy and Caulry are also in the shake-up. Regardless of what happens in the final round of games, these three are sure to feature in the knockout stages.
Castletown-Finea/Coole/Whitehall look set to take the semi-final spot in Division 2 with two from Tang, Rosemount and St. Mary's set to join them in the knockout phase. Tang could yet top the group if they beat Ballymore in their final game on Saturday week, August 14 and Finea lose to St. Mary's.
At the other end of the Division 2 table, Ballinagore and Ballymore are battling to avoid a relegation playoff against either Moate All-Whites or Kilbeggan Shamrocks from Division 2. Intriguingly, Moate and Kilbeggan will meet in a do-or-die clash at Lakepoint Park on Friday, August 13.
