GAA concerned at Croker attendance

Croke Park
GAA bosses are said to be concerned at the surprisingly low attendance for last Sunday's Leinster SFC semi-final between Dublin and Westmeath at Croke Park.
The 51,455 crowd was the lowest to attend a championship game involving the Dubs at GAA headquarters since May 2005 when they played Longford as part of a double-header with Kildare and Wicklow (39,852).
Dublin generally draw in excess of 60,000 spectators to Croke Park, with over 75,000 having watched their first round win over Meath earlier this month. Several reasons have been given for the poor turnout, including the AC/DC concert in Punchestown, apathy among Westmeath supporters and the fact that all tickets, with the exception of Hill 16, were priced at EUR30 - a hike of EUR5 on last year's corresponding game despite the recession.
Ticket sales for next Sunday's novel Leinster SHC final between Dublin and Kilkenny are also believed to be slow, despite appeals from Dublin chairman Gerry Harrington for Dubs fans to get out and support the hurlers.
