Queally hails character

October 19, 2016

Passage manager Peter Queally is adamant that his players have the character to repeat their performance of 2013.

On that occasion, Passage made history by coming from behind to claim their first ever county title when defeating Ballygunner in a pulsating contest.

The sides meet again this Sunday and Queally stressed to the Waterford News & Star that his charges will not be found wanting in the determination stakes this Sunday.

"These fellas have character in oodles," said Queally. "They have shown in so many times in different games.

"When their backs are to the wall, they're tremendous. The emotion is hard to describe. We felt very hurt and disappointed to win a historic county final three years ago and then bow out at the quarterfinal stages two years in a row.

"It meant a lot to us to get back into a final and to show people that it wasn't a one-off. This is a good bunch of players. Not alone are they full of character but they're full of hurling as well. There's some tremendous hurlers and good young fellas coming through. It means so much for them to get back to a county final."
