Tributes have flooded in following the passing of popular Waterford referee and former All-Ireland winner Paul Foley.

Paul, who was on the Munster intercounty referee's panel, passed away on Tuesday.

He officiated Waterford Crystal Cup games earlier this year and was a highly regarded whistler.

Paul scored two goals in the 1992 All-Ireland minor hurling final as Waterford overcame Galway.

Munster GAA released the following statement:

"It is with regret that Munster Council GAA has learnt of the death of Paul Foley of Waterford who was a serving member of the Munster GAA refereeing panel. A former inter-county hurler and footballer with Waterford, Paul refereed colleges, minor and intermediate hurling games in Munster. Comhairle na Mumhan extends its deepest sympathy to his family, friends and refereeing and GAA colleagues at this sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal."
