Ballygunner 2-16
Mount Sion 0-9

Brian O'Sullivan grabbed 2-2 as Ballygunner overwhelmed city rivals Mount Sion to land the Waterford SHC title for a 13th title at Walsh Park.

Pauric Mahony also shot 0-10 (0-8 from placed balls) for the winners who made amends for last year's late collapse at the hands of Passage in emphatic fashion. Mount Sion could only manage two points from play, with Martin O'Neill accounting for the rest from frees.

Man of the match O'Sullivan raised green flags in the seventh and 14th minutes to help the winners to a 2-3 to 0-2 lead. Sion improved thereafter with O'Neill posting five frees, but they still trailed by 0-7 to 2-5 at the short whistle.

As the losers missed three goal chances on the restart, Ballygunner pulled further clear with scores from free-taker Mahony, Barry O'Sullivan and Harley Barnes. JJ Hutchinson and O'Sullivan tagged on late points as Sion finished the game with 14 players after centre back Austin Gleeson was dismissed on a second yellow card.
