(from Eamonn Kelly) Chicago Division: Senior Hurling Championship: Harry Boland's   2-14    Erin's Own    0-14 Harry Boland's perfect record in this years Chicago Central division senior hurling championship remains in tact following their well deserved six point victory over Erin's Own at Gaelic Park on Sunday 18th July. While there can be no denying Harry Boland's entitlement to this game, they never sealed victory until late in the forth quarter with the help of substitute Liam Hogan who shot 1-1 in the final moments. While entertaining, this was a game that never rose to any great heights, play was scrappy at times as both sides were guilty of missed chances. Erin's own were particularly ineffective as an all-round offensive unit as only one player, Pat Shortt, was the team's lone scorer for fifty eight minutes of the game. The Tipperaryman had a great afternoon in a loosing cause, ending up with a personal tally of 0-12, most of them from placed balls. He would have been the team's only marksman had not Eoin O'Donovan and Cathal Lafferty notched a couple of points just before the final whistle. Harry Boland's on the other hand had five forwards who contributed in the scoring department. Again, the Dublin duo of Kevin Flynn and Liam Ryan played major roles in Harry Boland's victory. Ryan, in the number six position getting great support from Oisin Walsh and David Martin was a fine leader in a strong half back line while Flynn, although well watched by O'Donovan, spearheaded most of the Boland's attacks including those leading up the two goals. It was a goal by Garratt Thomson from a long pass from Flynn in the 15th minute that helped Boland's enjoy a two point at the interval after a very closely contested first half. Great work by Shortt kept Erin's Own very much in the game through much of the second half but the introduction of Hogan at the beginning of the fourth quarter tilted the tide in favor of Harry Boland's who outscored their opponents 1-3 to 0-2 in the final ten minutes. Harry Boland's top marksmen were, Thomson 1-3, Hogan 1-1,  Flynn (0-3), Marcus Morris (0-2) and David Martin (0-2). Junior Football Championship:   John McBrides    3-11       Padraig Pearse    3-5 This second round clash between these two north sides rivals produced another fine junior football game in which John McBrides repeated their earlier success over Padraig Pearse, this time by six point margin. Although the game didn't quite match the high standard of their first meeting, when only a single point separated the teams at the end, it was a most exciting and tough contest which produced a multitude of scores, many in the spectacular category. While Mc Brides victory margin may have been a little flattering they were the better team and deserved success. There was little between the sides and only a couple of points separated them for most of the game with McBrides assuring victory in the final eight minutes when they scored four unanswered points. Highlight of the game was the fine performance of Padraig Pearse full forward, Hugh Curran, who scored a hat trick of goals in addition to a couple of points. McBrides led by two points at the interval, 2-5 to 2-3, with both of their goals coming from Richey Byrne. Their second half goal was scored by Steve Ronan in the thirty eight minute while their top point marksman was Aidrean Dolan with 0-6.  Junior Football Championship: St. Brendan's    1-8     Parnells   1-6 St. Brendan's continued on course in their efforts to retain their Chicago and national junior football titles following their narrow two point victory over a much improved Parnells team at Gaelic Park last Sunday. The outcome of this most exciting game was in doubt right up to the final whistle. While the champions just about deserved their win, had it not been for a spectacular save by their goalkeeper Alan Meade in the dying moments of the game victory would have belonged to Parnells. The Brendan's can also be thankful for the fine display by left-half-forward, Brendan Coen. While guilty of some bad shooting in the final quarter he accounted for 1-6 of his team's total. His goal in the 50th minute was a gem as he had to outsmart several defenders before kicking to the net. St. Brendan's other two points came from Anthony Byrne and Andrew Coen. Parnells, with a majority of American born players in their squad, can be proud of their performance. They kept close to their more experienced opponents for most of the game and enjoyed a one point lead half way through the final quarter. Trailing by three points just before the interval, Parnells generated a series of attacks which resulted in a great goal scored by Mike Dennehy which leveled the game at half time, 1-3 to 0-6. Both teams exchanged points in a closely contested second half until Cone's goal in the fifty third minute sealed victory for the Brendan's. Besides Dennehy, those who scored for Parolees were Dave McDermott, Brian Malone, Barry O'Neill and Dan McDermott. In the ladies football Jack Desmond Cup tournament, St. Brigids's defeated Erin's Rovers, 3-13 to 3-5.       Boston Division: Results: SFC: Cork  0-13   Kerry  0-5 Wolfe Tones  0-10   MacAnespies   0-7 SHC: Limerick    0-16    Galway    0-10 Ladies JF: Tir na Nog   3-13   Shamrocks   0-10  Midwest Division: Results: Men's Junior B Football Cleveland St. Jarlath's  3-10  (unofficial score) Pittsburgh Celtics   1-15 Cleveland St. Pat's 0-9 Detroit Wolfetones  3-18 Ladies' Junior B Football Cleveland St. Pat's 1-6 Detroit St. Anne's  6-14 Men's Junior C Football Buffalo Cuchullainn  6-15  (unofficial score) Syracuse Celtics  1-16 Eamonn Kelly, PRO North American County Board, Chicago
