Boston Senior Championship 4th Round - Kerry 2-15 McAnespies 5-12
As they say goals win games and this was certainly the case in Boston today. Once again Kerry were slow out of the traps conceding 2 goals in the first 4 minutes of play by David McLawliss and Liam Bolan and a point by Mattie Campion. Kerry responded with 2 points from frees the first by Robbie Croft and the second by Niall Sheehy. Paul Devane set up Robbie Croft for Kerrys third point. Kerry should have had a goal a minute later when Croft passed to Eoin McGreedy but his shot went over the bar 2-1 to 0-4 after 7 minutes. McAnnesspies pushed further ahead with 3 more points by Mattie Campion and a goal by David McLanliss extended the lead 3-4 to 0-5. Kerry battled back later in the half with scores by Niall Sheehy, a 45 by Robbie Croft and a goal by center forward Graham Glynn. Niall Sheehy and Joey Fitzpatrick added 2 more points for Kerry only to be cancelled out by Caolan Boyles 2 points and as the half time whistle blew it was down to a 3 point game 3-6 to 1-9.
Kerry came out in the second half all fired up and ready for action holding McAnespies to just 2 points. Meanwhile Kerry scored 1-3 to take a 1 point lead after 12 minutes the goal coming from Graham Glynn his second of the game with points by Croft, Murtagh Condron and Niall Sheehy. Derek Nolan who replaced the injured Murtagh Condron had a Kerry point right away which was cancelled out by Colan O'Boyle. As that stage it was anyones game. Tempers began to get as hot as the temperatures as both teams battled for the upper hand. The killer below came from Mattie Campion as he scored a goal for McAnespies. Kerry responded with 2 points, 1 by Niall Sheehy and the other by Paul Croft but it was McAnnespies fitness that told in the end a Bolan had their 5th goal to leave the score McAnnespies 5-12 Kerry 2 -15.
Best for Kerry were team captain Ian Whelan, Murtagh Condron, Niall Sheehy, Graham Glynn and Paul Devane.
