NYGAA to host first ever Coaching Conference

NYGAA are proud to announce their first ever Coaching Conference
NYGAA are proud to announce their first ever Coaching Conference that will take place in the newly refurbished Gaelic Park on Saturday May 5th starting at 10 am.

The conference is being organised in conjunction with Connacht Council GAA with its aim to better equip coaches at child, youth and adult level. The conference will cover several aspects of Coach Education ranging from Fundamentals Training to coaching Development Squads players and the role of the Coaching Officer in clubs.

This years speakers will include

Pat Daly - GAA Director of Games
Pat is the National Director of Coaching and Games Development with the GAA from the Tallow Club in County Waterford. Over his tenure as Director of Games Pat has overseen the implementation of the Cul Camps program and the Go Games Model which has dramatically increased the number of young players playing and staying within the GAA. Pat will deliver a presentation on developing a Games Based Approach to training, focusing on the benefits of small sided games as a coaching tool rather than traditional drills based training sessions.

John Tobin - Provincial Games Manager with Connacht Council GAA
From the Tuam Stars Club in County Galway John Tobin has won Minor and U21 All Irelands with Galway as a player and has managed Galway and Roscommon Senior Football teams. John is the current Provincial Games Manager with Connacht GAA and will deliver a presentation on the Role of the Club Coaching Officer in the GAA and the benefits such a position has given to clubs in Ireland.

Damien Coleman - Connacht Hurling Director
From the Portumna Club in county Galway Damien has represented his Club and County at all levels winning an All Ireland U21 in 1993 and Railway Cup in '94/ Damien is the current chairman of the Portumna Hurling Club. Damien will deliver a presentation on developing practical Fundamental Hurling Skills for new hurlers.

Kevin Walsh - Sligo Senior Football Manager
Kevin has been the manager of the Sligo Football team since 2008 guiding the team from Division 4 to 2 and has also worked as a selector for the Connacht Provincial Squad and the Galway Ladies Footballers. As a player Kevin won 3 All Stars and 2 All Ireland Football Finals with Galway in 1998 and 2001. Kevin's presentation will be on coaching development squad and elite players taking players from Club to County level.

Will Harris - Founder and Owner of Riverdale Strength & Fitness
Will is a certified Crossfit Coach who has played American Football at Varsity and Collegiate level . Will has worked as a Strength and Condition Coach for 9 years in which time he has coached Rugby, Basketball and American Football teams and has also worked with Olympic Level athletes and movie stars such as Channing Tatum on a 1-to-1 basis. Will has also delivered sessions with the New York Senior and Minor Footballers over the past 2 years.
