Tara's Helen Murphy in action against Croydon.

Tara travelled to the World Games last week in good spirits hoping to compete against the world's best. However, Tara faced a familiar foe in their opening game against Croydon. A competitive and hard fought game was eventually won by Tara. A comprehensive win against North America (all American-born) followed later in the day. A face off against Europe ensued for the top spot of the group. Tara were defeated and although momentarily downbeat, they were still in the cup competition on the Wednesday.

Results on Tuesday:

Croydon 2-0 Tara 2-5

Tara 2-13 North America 0-0

Tara 0-5 Europe 3-4

Tara entered their first game against the Middle East knowing a win would put them in the mix for the top two places and a date in Croke Park in Friday's final. A fantastic fight back from 5 points down at half time showed Tara's true spirit and they ran out  4 point winners. A rematch with Europe was next up and this time Tara showed they had learned the lessons of their defeat on Tuesday and started strongly. Europe continued to threaten but a saved penalty and a mammoth effort saw Tara run out 2 point winners. A good win against Canada saw Tara successfully qualify for the final on Friday. The last game of the day was a warm-up match against Australasia and they ran out winner with a big score and plenty for Tara to think about for the final.

Results on Wednesday:

Tara 2-4 Middle East 1-3

Europe 1-3 Tara  2-2

Australasia 5-4 Tara 0-1

A memorable day for the club as Helen Murphy led the team up the famous Hogan Stand steps to collect the runner up medals.
