St Clarets GFC Notes
May 21, 2012
The seniors defeated Eire Og 4-14 to 0-6 in their opening Division 3 League game of the season. Well done to all concerned. A match report is available to read on the club's website www.stclarets.co.uk/news
We are still waiting confirmation of next Sunday's game. Details will be posted on our website when we have them.
Training continues for the seniors on Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm at Hayes Rugby Club.
Training for our U-14 and U-16 teams continues on Tuesday and for our U-8, U-10 and U-12s on Wednesday. For information on our club's under-8 and under-10 teams contact Denis McCarthy on 07973287256; our U-12s contact Steve McElroy on 07872188791 and for all matters relating to the club's under-14s and under-16s, please contact Colm Lynott on 07761 785260. All players, regardless of experience are welcome.
Entries for the club's Euro 2012 sweepstake are on sale now. Details of the draw can be found on our website. Please do all you can to support this very important fundraising initiative.
Don't forget that the club's Annual Golf Day is on June 15th. Members of the organising committee are looking for sponsors and players. More details next week but any suggestions please direct to John McDermott or Stevan Sherry.
Members are reminded of the importance of paying their annual club membership. We all know it takes funds to run the club and it also takes members to ensure that we have a club. At this moment in time, both are lacking. No members, no money, no club! Please contact a member of the committee if you have not yet paid your membership.
Good luck and thank you to the Hickey brothers, John and Michael, who depart for Australia this weekend. We wish them well on their travels and thank them sincerely for the service they have provided us over the past few seasons. We hope you enjoy your travels and we look forward to seeing you both back in the green and white soon.
Many thanks to John Kelly, Denis McCarthy and Luke Kelly for giving up their time on Sunday to line he pitch and put up the nets before the game and also waited to clear the pitch after the second game.
We are always on the look-out for new players of all levels. For further details about the club, go to our website www.stclarets.co.uk or check out our Facebook page St Clarets GAA. Help with work and accommodation is always available. Further details about the club can also be obtained from John Kelly on 07884 473672 or via email at
[email protected].
This week's pause for sporting thought is from Cavan footballer Robert Maloney-Derham : "If you went into a game and you thought you were going to lose you shouldn't be going in to play the game."
St Clarets GFC - never has so much been owed by so many to so few.
