Former Limerick footballer Darren Horan
Former Limerick footballer Darren Horan finds himself in the unusual position of facing his former teammates when he lines out for London against the Shannonsiders in the opening round of the NFL on Sunday.
Horan lined out for Limerick for three years before moving to London and linking up with the Round Towers club. Since then he has joined the London panel and his first match will be against his native county.
The midfielder admits that it will be strange facing Limerick, but he stressed that he will be going all out to help the exiles begin the campaign with a surprise win.
"It's a bit weird facing your home county but that's just the way it is over here in London," said Horan. "It'll be nice to see the lads again though; it's always good to play against fellas that you know it will be interesting.
"Limerick will be one of the favourites to win division four, but I think they could be a bit rusty coming into this game though. They've only had a couple of challenge matches and two in the McGrath Cup. It'll be tough but you never know."
