Bolger relishing Meath clash
July 02, 2009
London hurling coach Brendan Bolger believes that all the pressure will be on Meath to capture the Nicky Rackard Cup next Saturday week at Croke Park.
Speaking after his team's convincing semi-final victory over Fingal last weekend, Bolger expressed his joy at reaching the competition's decider and is eagerly anticipating a return to GAA headquarters.
"It feels great," Bolger told the Irish Post newspaper. "Meath are going to be a couple of steps up for us - they'll be hot favourites. But it's fantastic to be going to Croke Park.
"The last time I was there was back in 1993 and they still had to old Hogan and Cusack stands! The lads are absolutely delighted to be going there, to get out in the Mecca of hurling. We want to go over there and win it."
When asked about the pressure under London to deliver a second Nicky Rackard Cup across the Chanel, Bolger dismissed the notion and said all his team can do is prepare for the final as best they can.
"We're not going to be under pressure because Meath are strong favourites," he explained.
"We'll hurl as hard as we can and hopefully that will be enough. We're not going to leave any stone uncovered in the next two weeks."
