London withdraw from ladies IFC

June 18, 2009
Following on from their success in winning last year's All-Ireland junior ladies championship, London ladies have dramatically withdrawn from the 2009 IFC. London were due to play Clare in the first round of the ladies intermediate football championship this weekend, but the Exiles have announced that they will not be fielding in the competition. A number of reasons have been given for the withdrawal and chairman John Doyle stressed that the financial aspects of entering the championship was a big factor in the decision. "Finance is a major issue that needs to be resolved and there is a Ladies GAA in Britain conference organised by Croke Park in Birmingham on Saturday, June 27th, said Doyle. "This process will be the basis for building for the future and the ambition is to resolve the issues and have London participate in the 2010 National League and intermediate championship."
