London ladies reach their second All Ireland final in a row

September 02, 2008
On Saturday at Naomh Peregrine GAA grounds, London ladies put on a powerful display to beat Wicklow 2-10 to 0-05 in the All Ireland Junior Championship semi final. From the start the London team were determined not to be denied a return visit to Croke Park, and after a few very early scares, when Wicklow, rattled the crossbar and Anne Murphy made a splendid block , they went on to dominate the game. Wicklow were still there with half time approaching, with the score reading 0-07 to 0-03 in London's favour, but within minutes of the resumption Monica Jordan had a London goal and ten minutes later Claire Towey rounded Wicklow net minder Emer Miley for another goal London were ten points clear. Shauna Keogh finished with a tally of five points, whilst Claire Towey hit 1-02, to give London a passage to the final, were they will face Derry in Croke Park, on September 28th. The game was refereed by Eileen Jones, who put in an excellent performance. London's Natalie O Connor was awarded the TG4 player of the match. The cost of London's achievements have not been small and this Sunday evening in Jonos in Ealing Common they are holding a Prize Draw, for which tickets are on general sale now, to try and raise funds for the final trip, any help would be greatly appreciated.
