McMahon looks to Donegal

Joe McMahon admits Tyrone face "a tough task" in their Ulster SFC opener against Donegal on May 17th.

The Red Hands were hammered by the provincial champions in their Round Six NFL meeting last month - a result which went a long way towards consigning Mickey Harte's men to relegation.

"The focus now will be on Donegal and a tough task ahead of us," team stalwart McMahon comments in The Irish News. "I know Donegal gave us a bit of a lesson in the national league there last week and we definitely have some things to look at from that point of view.

"But we'll knuckle down after a few weeks of club football and we'll go at it again. If you look at it, the way Tyrone have played this year, they have played in fits and starts.

"They have put it up at times against the bigger teams, the better teams, and maybe took the foot off the pedal and you can't afford to do that in this division.

"And we were punished, especially against Donegal. When they get ahead of you, it's very hard to come back at them with the system they play. They're well drilled and they're only going to improve again. It's something that we'll have to look at for the 17th of May."
