Joe McMahon doesn't know if he will be able to recommit to the Tyrone footballers in 2015.

The 2005 and 2008 All-Ireland winner, who is preparing for Omagh St. Enda's Tyrone SFC final against Carrickmore on Sunday, commutes on a daily basis between Omagh and Coleraine, where he is training to be a teacher. This has put an extra strain on the 31-year-old family man who was previously employed as a GAA coach by the Ulster Council.

"I don't know just yet," McMahon replied when the question about his inter-county future was put to him by the Belfast Telegraph.

"I am going to mull over the books. There is a serious strain at the minute travelling up and down. I am away at seven in the morning and not home until half six, quarter-to-seven in the evening from Coleraine.

"I don't know what the future holds. If I am on placement it might lift the strain a bit, but my ultimate at the minute is to get my education sorted out and get my career sorted."

The versatile performer, who is father to a three-year-old and a seven-month-old baby, is keen to offer more support to his wife Geraldine at home.

"In fairness, Geraldine is the one who is always left at home to do the work. It's easy for me to say yes or no, but ultimately it falls back on Geraldine," he added.
