In the reserve game, the team put in a very spirited performance and with ten minutes remaining there was only a few points in it to the home side. However, two late goals put daylight between the teams and we were defeated 2-14 to 1-9. Best for the Harps were Mark Mc Bennett and Mickey Devlin. In the senior game, Clann na Gael raced out of the blocks and with the wind at their backs led by 1-10 to 2-1 at half time, the Harps goals coming from James Kelly and Mickey Mulgrew. We expected a better performance in the second half but unfortunately it never materialised and we were defeated by 3-14 to 2-4. Next games for the teams are on Thursday night when we face Derrylaughan at home. Throw in times are 7 and 8.15 and all support would be appreciated. U16s The under 16s continued their league campaign on Saturday when they travelled to Donaghmore. However, Donaghmore scored a free deep into stoppage time to win by a point. The team can bounce back this Saturday when they face Eglish at home. Best Wishes Best Wishes to Conor McGarrity (son of Ruairi) following his recent illness. An Mhaigh T'r na nÓg Senior ACL Division 1 An Mhaigh 2-11 Coill an Chlochair 0-10 An Mhaigh senior footballers ended a losing sequence of four games with victory over Killyclogher in Division One of the All-County League at Pairc Th'r na nÓg, last Saturday evening. This was a very important result for the Moy men who are determined to stay clear of the relegation zone. Close to full strength again, Mattie McGleenan's men were good value for their seven point win. Conditions were ideal for this senior tussle and it was the home team who dominated the early exchanges to lead 0-4 to 0-1 at the end of the opening quarter. A Ryan Mellon penalty conversion midway through the half, after Ciaran Conroy had been fouled inside the large square, and a goal by Philip Jordan on the stroke of half-time helped put Moy eight points ahead (2-6 to 0-4) at the interval. County trio Sean Cavanagh, Philip Jordan and Ryan Mellon also kicked all of Moy's points in this half. Killyclogher offered greater resistance after the break, but the deficit was never less than six points as the home defence stood firm throughout and often provided the springboard to many of Moy's best attacks. Niall Conlon typified his side's determination at the back, young Nathan Brady did well to keep another clean sheet in goals, and the T'r na nÓgs had five different scorers in the second half. All in all, it was a pleasing team performance by An Mhaigh which brought about this 2-11 to 0-10 victory. Team & Scorers: Nathan Brady; Brendan Kelly, Francie McQuade, Adam Currie; Niall Conlon, Tommy McNicholl (captain), Mark Jordan; Ryan Mellon (1-1, 1 pen) and James Devlin (0-1); Martin Conroy, Philip Jordan (1-3), Sean Cavanagh (0-3, 2 frees); Ciaran Conroy, Ryan O'Neill (0-1), Tommy Conlon. Subs used: Kris Kavanagh (46 mins, 0-1) and Peter Mallon (46 mins, 0-1). League Position: Played 9, Won 3, Drawn 3, Lost 3, Points 9. Remaining Fixtures: v Loughmacrory (away) on Sunday 5th July at 3.45pm; v Trillick (away) on Friday 10th July; v Carrickmore (home) on Sunday 9th August; v Kildress (away) on Sunday 30th August; v Omagh (home) on Sunday 6th September; v Aghyaran (home) on Sunday 13th September. Reserve ACL Division 1 An Mhaigh 0-10 Coill an Chlochair 2-12 An Mhaigh reserve team played some of its best football since drawing at home to Eglish in the league when pushing Killyclogher all the way in last Saturday's opening encounter at Pairc Th'r na nÓg. Unfortunately, Moy's promising display wasn't enough to halt the team's losing run in Division One but manager Sean Mallon will take a lot of positives from this game. The first half was a very close affair with the Sky Blue players giving as good as they got until a penalty call went against them five minutes before the break. Killyclogher duly scored from the spot-kick and went in at half-time leading 1-7 to 0-6. Moy started best on the restart and were on top in the third quarter to close the gap to just two points. With seven minutes remaining, there was still only three points between the sides. However, the warm and humid conditions took their toll on the Moy team in the closing stages and it was Killyclogher who finished with a late flurry of scores to give them a somewhat flattering eight point victory (2-12 to 0-10). Talal Jomar, Adrian O'Neill, Peter Mallon and Martin Kernan were among those who showed promise for a home side which had five minor players in its starting fifteen. Team & Scorers: Talal Jomar; Philip McQuade, Gary Jordan, Adrian O'Neill; Hugo Mackle (0-1), Peter McKearney, Stephen Beaddie; Anthony Rafferty and Peter Mallon (0-4, 1 free); Paddy Fox, Conall Laverty (0-3, 3 frees), Ryan Mallon; Paddy McKeown, Turlough McKearney, Martin Kernan (0-1). Subs used: Emmett Rafferty (13 mins), Conall Duffy (half-time, 0-1), Donal Jordan (40 mins), James Kavanagh (45 mins). Moy's next reserve game is away to Loughmacrory in the All-County League this Sunday afternoon (5th July) at 2.15pm. Under 16 League An Mhaigh v Brocach An Mhaigh Under 16 team slipped to its second consecutive defeat in the league last Saturday afternoon when coming up short at home to Brocagh. The loughshore lads won a close contest on a scoreline of 0-11 to 2-2. Moy juveniles will hope to secure their first league points when they visit Derrytresk in round three of the league this Wednesday evening (1st July). Throw-in will be 7.30pm. For more information about under 16 team training and fixtures, please contact either Sean Cartmill or Raymond Kelly. Under 12 Go Games An Mhaigh Under 12 footballers continue to impress in this year's series of Tyrone Go Games. The young T'r na nÓgs travelled to Pomeroy on Tuesday 23rd June and there were great performances given by both our A and B teams. Ryan Coleman, Patrick Mackle, Eoghan Kelly and Ryan Casey were just some of those who starred for Moy on the night. Our lads then made the short journey to Dungannon on Thursday 25th June for two more close and exciting go games against the home club. Both A and B games were played in terrific spirit and featured good periods of blocking, attacking, score-taking and team play. Moy's Francie Kelly, Tom Loughran, Mark Regan, Conor Foster, Jack Campbell, Lorcan O'Hanlon and our young international Arturs were among the players who stood out at O'Neill Park. For more information on Under 12 team training and fixtures, please contact either Aidan Coleman or Paul Kelly. Under 10 Team News Youth team coach Gerry Fearon issued the following report of An Mhaigh's participation in an Under 10 football blitz on Saturday 27th June: "A depleted Moy Under 10 squad of 14 players - including a few debutants from the Under 8 ranks - turned up to play against Dungannon, Coalisland, Errigal Ciaran and Kildress. Due to the start of the holiday season, we were short some players and had to adapt fairly quickly. "The players who turned up were in for a treat as Mickey Harte was present at the blitz to cast an eye over the future of Tyrone and seemed very happy with the talent on view. As an added bonus for the players, county stars John Devine, Enda McGinley and Davy Harte were also there - this time in the role of referees. They posed for photographs with the teams, while autographs were the order of the day. The coaches would like to pass on our appreciation for the hospitality shown to all who attended. Even the travelling fans got a refreshing cuppa and a wee bun. "The theme of autograph-hunting continued later on that evening when our Under 10 squad showed off some of their silky skills to the crowd at half-time in the Moy v Killyclogher senior league match. Afterwards, the boys had the opportunity to "pester" the Tyrone players from Moy, with some jerseys now contain a number of special signatures." The Moy coaches would like to thank all those young players who turned up to play in the exhibition half-time games at Páirc Th'r na nÓg last Saturday evening.
