Tír Eoghain Abu!
Well done to Colm, Philip, Ryan, Sean and the entire Tyrone senior squad and management on their excellent victory over Derry in the Ulster Championship Semi-Final at Casement Park, Belfast last Sunday. We look forward to cheering on the Red Hands in the provincial decider at Clones on July 19th.
Reserve Championship
Ard Bó 3-14
An Mhaigh 1-2
An Mhaigh reserve team's championship aspirations were dashed for another year when suffering a second crushing defeat at the hands of Ardboe in less than a week. The O'Donovan Rossa pitch on the shores of Lough Neagh was once again the venue as Ardboe followed up their recent league victory over Moy with a facile first round championship win.
A Hugo Mackle point after nine minutes and Marty Conroy goal two minutes before the break were Moy's only scores in a disappointing first half. The post had also denied Marty Conroy a goal earlier in the half as Ardboe succeeded in building up a 1-8 to 1-1 lead by the interval. The home side's dominance continued in the final thirty minutes as Moy's challenge wilted. Midfielder Mark Jordan provided the only bit of cheer for the travelling support in the second half when fisting over four minutes from the end.
Team & Scorers: Nathan Brady; Adrian O'Neill, Niall Kelly, Philip McQuade; Hugo Mackle (0-1), Adam Currie, Emmett Rafferty; James Devlin (capt) and Mark Jordan (0-1); Karol McQuade, Martin Conroy (1-0), Peter McKearney; Eunan Deeney, John Harvey, Brendan O'Neill. Subs used: James Kavanagh (39 mins), Martin Kernan (47 mins), Dirar Jomar (49 mins) and Paddy McKeown (56 mins). Other subs: Aidan Coleman, Talal Jomar, Donal Jordan and Turlough McKearney.
The Moy's next reserve game is at home to Killyclogher in the All-County League this weekend.
Under 16 League
Cill Iseal v An Mhaigh
An Mhaigh Under 16 lads got their league campaign underway on Thursday 18 June with a tough away fixture against title favourites Killeeshil. It was a difficult opening for the young Sky Blues who fell to a heavy 2-5 to 6-13 defeat.
An understrength Moy team played very well in the first half and trailed by just a single point at the interval. However, three quick goals by Killeeshil on the restart effectively ended this game as a contest.
Team: Liam Kelly; Jack McDonald, Joe Daly; Michael Cartmill, Jack Kelly, Jack Donaghy; Ryan Dynes and Daniel Beaddie; Daryl Mills, Harry Loughran, Declan Conroy; Mark McConville, Christopher O'Neill. Subs: James Cavanagh, Tiernan O'Hanlon, Gerard Quinn.
League Position: Played 1, Won 0, Drawn 0, Lost 1, Points 0. Our boys will hope to bounce back in the best possible fashion when they take on Brocagh at home in round two of the league this Saturday afternoon (27th June). Throw-in will be 2.00pm.
Ladies Intermediate Championship
An Mhaigh 0-5
Cill Iseal 2-14
An Mhaigh ladies senior team bowed out of this year's Intermediate Championship when falling to a slick-moving and skilful Killeeshil side at O'Neill Park, Dungannon last Friday night. This was a much closer contest than the final scoreline would suggest with Killeeshil's clinical finishing the main difference between the teams.
The Moy girls will rue a series of missed scoring opportunities which would certainly have left things a lot tighter at half-time and gave them more to play for in the second period. Despite striking nine first half wides and unlucky not to have scored at least two goals, An Mhaigh were only 0-3 to 1-3 behind five minutes before the break. However, a late scoring burst by Cill Iseal, including a second goal on the stroke of half-time, saw them establish a clear ten point lead (2-7 to 0-3) at the interval.
Although Maeve McKearney opened the scoring for Moy within three minutes of the restart, it was the ladies of Killeeshil who killed the game off as a contest with a string of well taken points in the third quarter. To their credit, Dee Lavery and Aidan McAleese's team kept battling to the final whistle but their only reward was a late point from young substitute Eimear Swail. Final Score: An Mhaigh 0-5 Cill Iseal 2-14.
Best for An Mhaigh were goalkeeper and player of the match Eimear McKearney, Jade McGee, Ashlene McCann, Kelley Fay and the hard-working Susan McCann.
Team & Scorers: Eimear McKearney; Jade McGee, Colleen McCance, Michelle Gribbin; Jenna Hagan, Patricia Conroy (capt), Ashlene McCann; Sarah Rafferty and Alice Murphy; Leona Gallagher, Kelley Fay (0-1), Susan McCann; Michelle Clancy, Nina Murphy, Maeve McKearney (0-3). Subs used: Eimear Swail (37 mins, 0-1), Mairead Mitchell (52 mins), Aine Swail (52 mins), Sophie Lavery (57 mins) and Grace McCormack (57 mins).
An Mhaigh ladies will now focus all their attention on the league and will be keen to improve their position in Division Two.
Under 10 Girls Blitz
An Mhaigh Under 10 girls took part in a football blitz at Edendork, last Saturday morning, against the following clubs: Aodh Ruadh, Edendork, Stewartstown, Ardboe and Clonoe. In wet and windy conditions, the Tír na nÓg girls competed well in each of their five games.
Representing Moy on the day were: Niamh Armstrong, Ciara O'Hanlon, Shona Jordan, Catherine O'Hanlon, Ciara Mallon, Seanin Doherty, Rebecca Hughes, Cara Corr, Aileen Jones and Emma Lavery.

St John's P.S. Tournament
Well done to everyone involved in last weekend's big football tournament in Moy, organised by the St John's P.S. Parents Support Group. A large crowd gathered at Pairc Thír na nÓg on Saturday afternoon for the annual event which featured some well known local personalities, former pupils of St John's Primary School, and many past and present playing members of An Mhaigh G.A.C.
There was some terrific action and an exciting series of group games which allowed all the competing players, young and not so young, to show off their talents. The staff of our local primary school also got in on the act while members of the Parents Support Group ensured that everything ran smoothly on the day.
Tyrone and Moy star Ryan Mellon was on hand at the end of the final game to present the cup to the winning captain, Aiden McCormack, and bring a very enjoyable 2009 tournament to an end.

Our junior side bowed out of the junior championship at the first hurdle on Saturday evening in Dromore. Drumquinís period of dominance before half-time built up a commanding lead, and, despite a late surge we had left ourselves with just too much to do. Commiserations to both team and management.
