McMahon all set for first derby clash
June 20, 2009
Tyrone's All-Star full back Justin McMahon is looking forward to facing Derry at senior level for the first time.
The Omagh man was out with a hamstring injury when the arch-rivals met in the NFL earlier this year, while he wasn't involved when Derry emerged victorious from their last championship clash three years ago.
"When you have watched Tyrone v Derry matches in the past at different venues, you see what a big rivalry there is between the two teams, so to be involved in that is definitely new to me," he said.
"I didn't figure in the league game against them in Omagh, but I was able to see at close hand what it meant to play against them.
"We played Derry in the Ulster under 21 final in Ballybofey and it was a great game. A number of the players that were playing that day for Derry will be featuring in this game as well, so you realise the quality that they have there, and it's going to be a tough encounter."
