Carmen retain Vincent Gormley Masters

The Final of the Vincent Gormley Masters (Over 35) Carrickmore v Maghery took place on Saturday 8th November. Played in atrocious conditions both sets players gave an impressive account of themselves and after a very competitive encounter Carrickmore were able to secure victory only through a couple of late second half goals.
The have maintained their grip on the cup after winning the inaugural event in 2007. After the final whistle Brian Gormley presented a set of t-shirts to the Maghery captain. In his speech Brian paid tribute to his home club for keeping the memory of Vincent alive through the tournament and thanked all those who helped make the competition as success this year. Roddy Gormley was on hand to present the Vincent Gormley Masters Cup to Gavan Mc Elroy, the Carrickmore captain.

An Chárraig Mhór would like to thank runners-up Maghery for their participation during the whole event and the other 10 teams who brought the competition to a whole new level this year. Thanks to Moortown, Glenullin, Donaghmore, Trillick, Beragh, Edendork, Derrylaughan, Tyrone Over 40's and Derry Over 40's. A special word of thanks goes to Beragh and Donaghmore for the use of their facilities during the course of the competition. Thanks also to Colin Daly and Martin Mohan for sharing refereeing duties throughout the tournament, the Old Charm Inn for providing refreshments after the match and O'Neills Sportswear who sponsored the T-shirts for all the finalists. £1000 was raised through the competition which will be presented to the Termonmaguirc Patients Comfort Fund to assist with cancer care in the area.
