November 10, 2008
The PSNI are treating as suspicious a fire which caused considerable damage to the Fr. Rock's GAA clubhouse in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone early this morning.
The blaze was the second at a GAA premises in the county over the weekend - the St. Malachy's clubhouse in Edendork was completely destroyed by fire on Friday night.
The fire at the Fr. Rock's clubhouse was discovered at around 4.30 this morning. The entrance hall and a storeroom were extensively damaged, although fire crews managed to save the rest of the building.
Police say they are treating both blazes as suspicious, and have launched separate investigations into both.
Winners of the Tyrone SFC on two occasions in 1916 and '17, Fr Rock's is the home club of county star Eoin Mulligan.
