Croker not the ideal venue for Leinster final - Kelly

July 05, 2018

Kilkenny and Galway played out a 0-18 draw at Croke Park last Sunday

Former Tipperary star Eoin Kelly feels a change in venue for this Sunday's Leinster SHC final replay will make for a better game.

Galway and Kilkenny played out a nail-biting 0-18 apiece draw last weekend at Croke Park and with the replay now set for Thurles in three days' time, Kelly is expecting a more open game of hurling between the two giants.

"I don't see Croke Park as being the ideal venue for a Leinster final," the two-time All-Ireland winner told PaddyPower News.

"You'll see a change of view after Sunday's Leinster final because it will be on in Thurles, it'll be an open game, you'll get more scores there and it will feel like more of an occasion. But, are Kilkenny going to be beaten by Galway three times in the championship as it rolls on? It's hard to do that.

"I still think Galway and Kilkenny are going to end up in an All-Ireland semi-final."

On his prediction for this weekend, Kelly added: "It was always going to be a tight game. I expect Galway to push on and win the next one on Sunday."
