Mayo are one step away from a long overdue All-Ireland SFC success. Here are the players who impressed us at Croke Park yesterday...

1. Evan Comerford (Tipperary)

Another accomplished outing from the Premier number one. Couldn't be faulted for the concession of the two goals.

2. Brendan Harrison (Mayo)

Had his hands full with Conor Sweeney at times but battled gamely throughout and restricted the Tipperary danger man to two points from play.

3. Barry Moran (Mayo)

The physically imposing Castlebar Mitchels clubman was a late addition to the Mayo starting 15 and operated effectively as a sweeper.

4. Keith Higgins (Mayo)

Higgins provided the leadership with an incisive run forward to set up Jason Doherty for the all-important first-half goal.

5. Bill Maher (Tipperary)

His red card aside, Maher scored a point and helped put his team on a forward footing at every available opportunity.

6. Colm Boyle (Mayo)

Made a crucial block on a Peter Acheson shot just before half-time and put in a typically industrious shift before his late withdrawal.

7. Paddy Durcan (Mayo)

Successfully kept Josh Keane on a tight leash and can be pleased with his contribution to his side's five point success.

8. Peter Acheson (Tipperary)

The Tipperary captain played through the pain barrier after breaking his hand but you wouldn't have noticed such was his commitment to the cause.

9. Donal Vaughan (Mayo)

A late black card failed to take the gloss off a enterprising Vaughan display and he got through a lot of work around the middle third of the field.

10. Diarmuid O'Connor (Mayo)

Mayo supporters will be hoping for a greater return from the gifted youngster in the final but he did kick a point in either half.

11. Aidan O'Shea (Mayo)

Led from the front as the westerners overcame their slow start to seize control of proceedings during their second quarter purple patch.

12. Kevin McLoughlin (Mayo)

Was relieved of sweeper duties for this one and will have been disappointed at not finding the back of the Tipperary net in the 29th minute.

13. Conor Sweeney (Tipperary)

Put himself in the frame for an All-Star nomination with a determined display which yielded two points from play and a converted free.

14. Andy Moran (Mayo)

The evergreen Moran was a constant thorn in the side of the Tipp defence and his four first-half points sent Mayo on the road to the Sam Maguire decider.

15. Michael Quinlivan (Tipperary)

Raised seven white flags via free kicks and gave Mayo's Lee Keegan plenty of food for thought throughout the 70 minutes.
