Tipperary under-21 football manager Tommy Toomey is adamant that the Premier County's rise can continue, despite their setback in the All-Ireland final last weekend.

A defeat to Tyrone in controversial circumstances could be seen as a major setback for the Tipp men who have come on leaps and bounds in the big ball code over the last few years.

And Toomey stressed to the Tipperary Star that the county footballers can continue that progress over the coming years.

"Tipp are coming from an area of fourth division football for nearly a decade and not really with much ambition to get anywhere. But over the last six, seven years with a bunch of players Tipperary are on the rise," said Toomey.

"We got a knock in the All-Ireland, there is no doubt about that, it will affect players, but we will do our best to ensure that is limited. I know the Tipperary public will support this time which is a big thing for us. Six or seven are playing on the seniors and we play Waterford in the Munster championship and if we get through that game, we have Kerry. These are big games that Tipp need to be playing in."
