The Munster hurling champions' poor recent record in All-Ireland semi-finals continued at Croke Park this afternoon.

Cork's crushing 1-11 to 2-18 loss to Tipperary means the last three Munster kingpins have lost at the penultimate round stage, with Limerick and Tipp having suffered a similar fate in 2013 and 2012 against Clare and Kilkenny respectively. Indeed, six of the last eight Munster champions have failed to progress to the All-Ireland final - something which could be attributed to the long break between the provincial final and All-Ireland semi-final.

It begs the question: is winning Munster now a help or a hindrance?

Meanwhile, Cork's defeat today was the heaviest they have suffered to Tipperary in the championship since 1965 when the Premier County's margin of victory was 18 points, 4-11 to 0-5.
