How Curran's pupils influenced Corbett

Tipperary's Paul Curran gets out in front of Kilkenny's Richie Power
Tipp captain Paul Curran's pupils wrote a letter to Lar Corbett begging him to return.

When the 2010 Hurler of the Year announced his intercounty retirement in early February, the class taught by Premier County captain Curran at St Mary's NS, Irishtown, Clonmel wrote to the Thurles Sarsfields star asking him to reconsider.

"They wrote a letter when he decided to opt out," Curran admits in The Examiner.

"They were mad to write to him and we gave that to Larry. There must have been 20 letters, and I'd say it did touch him because he did say it was wonderful to see."

Since Corbett returned, the pupils have expressed a desire to get in touch again, though this time the Tipperary full back suspects their motives:

"Then when he was back they were all delighted and they were saying can we write another letter. I think they're clever enough - they just want to get in to the computer room!"
