Keane: Belief is the key

July 03, 2008
Sligo Ladies captain Tina Keane has stressed that belief will be the key if the Yeats' Ladies are to overcome Mayo in this Saturday's Connacht Ladies final at Castlebar and lift a Ladies' provincial senior championship for the first time in the county's history. Keane believes a major boost was provided to the players following Paddy Henry's side's defeat of Galway in the provincial semi-final, and maintains that the size of the current squad is suitable to land a Connacht title. "Our big strength is that we have a very strong squad with plenty of options and we really believed we had a great chance of beating Galway," said Keane "A lot of it is down to getting the attitude right and having self belief in ourselves. The win over Galway was great for our confidence and now we have to keep the momentum going for the final." Regardless, the Sligo skipper will certainly be looking to help her side get over the pre-match nerves on Saturday and settle into the game quickly as she looks to get ther hands on a first ever Connacht senior title for Sligo.
