Wait over for minor footballers

June 24, 2015

The Sligo minor footballers finally take make their bow in the Connacht championship this weekend.

On Saturday, they head to Pairc Sean MacDiarmada in Carrick on Shannon to take on home side Leitrim in the provincial quarterfinal.

It is eleven weeks since the Yeats County last played a competitive match, but manager Aidan Rooney told the Sligo Champion that they are looking forward to the match.

"We're looking forward to it. It has been a long wait since the end of the league so that's a distant memory now," said Rooney. "We had to come down for a little while after the league because we were so far away.

"So training changed a little bit and we played a lot of games so it's those games that have brought us to where we are in terms of preparation. We're in good shape, all the lads are happy."
