Calry/St Joseph's manager Eamonn Kelly was delighted to get his competitive reign off to a winning start.

The first round of the leagues began last weekend and Calry/St Joseph's saw off the challenge of Curry, much to the delight of their new manager.

"We are well pleased to win our first game in the senior league," Kelly told the Sligo Champion. "This was the first time that we played a game in the senior league. It was 1997 when Calry were last in the league.

"We moved up last year so it was really great after that to win our first game. The match was due to be here in town but it had to be moved to Curry as there was so much rain in town. The game itself was very good, we are improving with every match."
