The Sligo under-16 hurlers were celebrating at the weekend after they won the All-Ireland 'B' plate.

At the weekend tournament in Newry, Sligo had three teams competing as they had a second under-16 string as well as their under-14 squad in action.

Sligo hurling officer Benny Kenny told the Sligo Champion admitted that it was great to have so many players on show over the weekend.

Kenny said: "While it was great to come out on top of eight teams to win the plate, the most satisfying thing was we had 65 players hurling on the same day and wearing the black and white of Sligo."
