Flanagan: It's a big task

Sligo manager Pat Flanagan has urged his players to rise to the challenge of facing Cork in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers this weekend.

The sides do battle at O'Connor Park, Tullamore on Saturday evening and the Connacht outfit go into the match as massive underdogs.

However, Flanagan believes that his charges are well capable of pulling off a major upset against one of top counties in the country.

Cork should be eager to prove a point following their crushing defeat to Kerry in the Munster SFC final three weeks ago and Flanagan knows this.

"Let's be honest, Cork would have aspirations of being All-Ireland champions," Flanagan states in the Sligo Champion. "They were disappointing against Kerry. They have a point to prove and will feel they do.

"However, we are going to embrace the challenge and do our utmost. It's a great opportunity to see where we are at. We are going to measure ourselves against a Division One team."
