Sligo continued their impressive start to 2012 with a 1-9 to 0-6 FBD Connacht league victory over IT Sligo at Enniscrone.

With the aid of a strong wind, the Yeats men held a 0-6 to 0-2 advantage at the break. Alan Costello, Eugene Mullen and Mark Quinn all contributed to their tally.

In the second half, the students, led by corner forwards Paul Garvey and Adrian Croal cut the deficit to one with three scores in succession.

The game swung back in Sligo's favour entering the final quarter when wing back Johnny Davey grabbed the games only goal. Three frees from the boot of Colm Mc Gee put them further ahead.

Garvey had a superb opportunity to put his side back in it but his effort was denied by 'keeper Philip Greene. Tweet
