Relay Run to Croke Park for All Ireland Final 2010

Only a few weeks to go to the Kent Park to Croke Park Relay Run and the excitement is building all the time. We hope to make the start of the run an event in itself and are asking all club members and the wider community to attend on the 17th of September. There will be music from 6 pm, special guests, spot prizes and a 1 km Fun Run going down the new road, across the Strandhill Road, up Larkhill Road and back to the clubhouse. So if you are young or old, can run or walk please come along and complete the first 1 km with the lads. The Fun Run will begin at 6.45pm sharp. Please note there will be some traffic disruption around the area for a short while on the evening in question. Anyone who wishes to help out can contact David Keane 086 8367005 or Niall Murray 087 2860239. Club supporters can now contribute to the cause online at the Club's official website or on the Club's official Facebook page using the "PayPal" facility. Congratulations to our five club members who completed the warriors run on Saturday. Michael Bree, Adrian Muldowney, Paul Corcoran, John Foy and Padraic Owens all competed strongly in the warriors run and will surely be in excellent condition for the upcoming Kent Park to Croke Park Challenge.

Saturday Morning Coaching: Saturday Morning Coaching continues every Saturday morning from 10.30am until 12pm, all are welcome, so if your child is age 5 to 12 years and would like to enjoy Gaelic games in a fun environment bring them along. This invitation goes out to any parents, past players, Uncles, Aunts, brothers or sisters who want to get into coaching or just help out, please come along. You can join up on the day. Remember to get your membership fee paid asap as the jerseys sponsored by John Kent Sports are ordered and will be here in a couple of weeks.

Ladies: Hard luck to the Junior Ladies who lost to Calry/St. Joseph's on Sunday in their final group game of the championship. It was the first time for many of the girls to play at Junior level and no doubt they learned a lot from the experience. Also well done to the Under 14 girls who put up a great battle against St. Patrick's in the second half but lost out narrowly in the end.
Minor: Our minors have been drawn against Calry/St. Joseph's in the Minor A Championship Quarter Final to be played on this Friday 3rd September at 7pm in St. Mary's. We ask supporters to turn out to get behind the team. Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm.

U-16: We congratulate the U-16 Squad and Management Team on their comprehensive victory over Tourlestrane in the County A Final on Sunday evening last at Markievicz Park. A tenacious Tourlestrane side never gave up despite trailing by 8 points at half time, but stellar performances from Cian Breheny, Colm Egan, Seamus Cawley and the defensive unit as a whole saw Mary's clinch the title on a scoreline of St. Mary's 3-17 Tourlestrane 1-7. Full report in next week's Notes.

U-11/U-9:  Training continues tomorrow Thursday at 6pm - looking for a full attendance please.  First City League game this Saturday 4th September versus St. Molaise Gaels in Grange - yes the summer holidays are officially over! The run to Croke Park is taking place in 2 weeks. Please ensure that all sponsorship cards and money collected are returned to Adrian or Francis as soon as possible.
Senior/Junior: The Senior side had a convincing win over Tubbercurry on Saturday evening last in the Senior Championship at Ballymote. Mary's, playing with the aid of a breeze in the opening half, defended stoutly and led at half time on a scoreline of St. Mary's 0-7 Tubbercurry 0-3. Mary's started the second half well increasing their lead immediately on the restart. Dominating possession around the middle third, with Seamus Burns and Caolan O'Grady in top form, Mary's stretched their lead further. Tubbercurry rallied in the final ten minutes notching three points to leave the Final Score at St. Mary's 0-15 Tubbercurry 0-7. In what was a real team effort, the Senior Squad now look forward to a Quarter Final clash with last year's finalists Eastern Harps. The match takes place this Saturday evening in Markievicz Park with a throw-in time of 6.30pm. We ask all Club Members to turn out in force to get behind the team. Training continues for the Senior Squad this week. The Junior side lost out to St. Molaise Gaels at Markievicz Park on Sunday afternoon last in the Junior A Championship on a scoreline of St. Molaise Gaels 2-14 St. Mary's 3-5. The side must now play Shamrock Gaels on Sunday at 12 noon in Ballymote. Training continues for the Junior team this week.
