Murphy revels in success

Sligo GAA county board chairman John Murphy feels that the All-Ireland junior success is a stepping stone in the development of gaelic football in the county.
The Connacht side produced a sterling performance to record a six-point win over Kerry at Pearse Stadium last Saturday and lift their first All-Ireland title since 1935.
It was a sweet victory for the Yeats County as just days earlier Kevin Walsh signalled his intentions to remain as senior manager for a further two years and Murphy stressed that the two incidents made it a magnificent week for Sligo.
"This is only our second ever All-Ireland and I'm delighted, delighted for the lads and Kevin Walsh. They have put a lot of work in and while there wouldn't be the same intensity in training as there was for the seniors, they put in a lot of good work into it and that was shown in the final in how they were controlled and particularly played well in the second half," said Walsh.
"It's a great day for Sligo. To win an All-Ireland at any level is a huge boost and I suppose the fact that Kevin stays now for another two years it seems to be working out pretty good for us."
