Sligo 2-10
Kerry 1-7

The All-Ireland JFC title is resting in Sligo for the first time since 1935 after today's final win over footballing giants Kerry at Pearse Stadium.

The Yeats County were 1-2 to no score up early on as the impressive David Maye pointed at Cian McNamara was on hand to bury the ball to the Kerry net.

To make matters worse for the Kingdom, former All-Ireland winning senior star Aodhan MacGearailt was forced off with a hamstring injury in the first quarter.

Brendan Poff opened the scoring for Kerry with a goal on ten minutes and two quick points had the sides level.

Sligo were made of stern stuff and Kieran Finan's goal put them back into a lead they would not relinquish as they led by 2-4 to 1-3 at the break.

The sides swapped scores during the third quarter before Kerry suffered the first of three second half red cards. Brendan Guiney was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Sligo kept the gap at four points and when Colin O'Mahony and Michael Murphy were also issued with red cards, as Kerry's discipline faltered, the eventual winners were able to hit the last two points of the game through Maye to seal the win.
