Walsh calls for Qualifier review

Sligo manager Kevin Walsh says the Qualifier fixtures schedule must be reviewed.

The Yeats County and Monaghan drew the short straw this year as they were the latest two counties to crash out of the championship just six days after losing their respective provincial finals and Walsh echoes the rising swell of dissenting voices:

"I'm not making excuses, but a six-day turnaround was very unfair on our players. We had a long hard season and we were on a long unbeaten run before we lost to Roscommon in the Connacht final.

"We didn't have sufficient time to recover and that was definitely a factor in our poor performance in Breffni Park.

"In fairness, the six-day turnaround is an issue the GAA needs to address."
