Markievicz to host crunch minor semi-final
June 25, 2009
Before Sligo take on Galway at Markievicz this Sunday afternoon, there's the little matter of a Connacht Minor Football Championship semi-final two hours earlier at the same venue.
The game sees Galway face defending provincial championship Mayo in what is sure to be an epic battle between the two rivalled sides, with the young Tribesmen gunning for a first minor title in two years and Ray Dempsey's side looking to get back to another All-Ireland final this September, after losing out to Tyrone in a replay last year.
Both sides are though to be well matched, and the game is sure to draw a heavier crowd to Sligo town for the 12.10pm throw-in, which is to be followed by Sligo and Galway meeting in the Connacht SFC semi-final, with throw-in at 2.00pm.
