Harrison relishing Galway clash
June 25, 2009
Sligo skipper Charlie Harrison says he is looking forward to trying to complete his manager's second target for the season and defeat Galway at Markievicz Park this Sunday.
When Galway native Kevin Walsh took over as manager of the Yeats County at the start of the season, Harrison explains he set two priorities at the start of the season for his new team.
"At our first meeting of the year, Kevin Walsh identified the league as his first target and the big clash with Galway was the next priority.
"It's been a long wait for the championship but now it's here and we're really looking forward to the challenge," said the defender.
The challenge will certainly be a tough one for Harrison and his team mates against the defending provincial champions, but he is confident that Sligo can out it up to their rivals on their home patch.
"We've got to be realistic about the challenge we face," said Harrison. "Galway are one of the top teams in the country, packed with class players, and we're coming out of Division Four. That's a massive gap to bridge but Galway won't get out of Markievicz Park without a fight."
