U-14 Training continues for the squad this week. They are due out in the next round of the Championship in the coming days. U-12 Our U-12 (older team) side were due to play in the 'A' semi final on Monday evening in Markievicz Park. The younger side lost out to Castleconner on a scoreline of 0-17 to 0-14 on Tuesday evening last in the quarter final. Up against an older and physically stronger side, Mary's played some excellent football in the last two quarters but time just ran out as a comeback looked on the cards. There were excellent performances all over the field with Conor Darcy, the Hargadon twins, Tony O'Kelly Lynch, Marc Ryan, Stephen Mulligan and Thomas O'Hehir impressing. U-10 Congratulations to our U-10 squad who won the Dinny Haran Shield in St. Molaise Gaels at the weekend. They defeated Drumcliff/Rosses Point in the final which consisted of the combined scores of two 11-aside matches. They were victorious in both with fine displays by the joint captains Cian Muldowney and Aaron Rooney and by Donal Fidgeon and Kevin Connell. Daire Muldowney had a good day in goals and Scott Lynch played great coming in fresh in the second half. Ryan Gray had his best performance all season and Adam Harrigan was as solid as a rock in defence. The panel was Ryan Gray, Shane Monaghan, Finn Murphy, Aaron Rooney, Cian Muldowney, Cormac Murray, Adam Harrigan, Adam Lynch, David Watters, Donal Fidgeon, Tom Gavin, Thomas Maher, Brian Hansberry, Michael Kilcoyne, Simon Gaffney, Ryan Hargadon, Eoin Morahan, Kevin Connell, Ruairdhi Mulligan, Ben Smyth, Leon Gillen, Scott Lynch, Ronan Connolly, Sarah Rooney, Niall Campbell, Conor Bastible, Diarmuid O'Malley, Daire Muldowney, Luke Walsh and Donal Keaveny. Cumann na mBunscoil Congratulations to Gaelscoil Chnoc na Re on winning their first girls title in the Cumann na mBunscoil finals. Hard luck to St. John's NS who lost their boys title to a well balanced Calry NS side. Hurling Best wishes to Naomh Eoin U-14 hurlers who are participating in Féile na nÓg for the first time ever in Mullingar and Laois/Offaly over the weekend. Saturday Morning Coaching Coaching continues for Children aged 5 to 12 each Saturday Morning from 10:30am to 12pm. Children are introduced to Gaelic Football where they are coached in the skills of the game. Why not encourage your children to try this out. Qualified coaches are in attendance every Saturday. Any parents who are interested in helping out can contact Joe Campbell on 086 8381270. On Saturday morning last it was encouraging to see some of the current Senior Panel coaching some of the stars of the future. We ask more coaches to make themselves available each Saturday to cater for the growing attendances. Senior The Senior side had a good win over St. Farnan's on Saturday evening last in the Division 2 League at Kent Park. Mary's started brightly with Donnacha Gallagher opening the scoring. Good build up play from David Caffrey set Gallagher up for a goal before the visitors responded with a goal from a quickly taken free to leave the half time score at St. Mary's 1-4 St. Farnan's 1-1. It was the visitors that opened the scoring in the second half with a pointed free before they levelled the match with a goal. This score seemed to spur the home side into action and a second goal for Gallagher from a penalty was followed by a third from play as Mary's finished the match strongly to win on a scoreline of St. Mary's 3-11 St. Farnan's 3-2. Best performers for Mary's were Seamus Burns at midfield and Donnacha Gallagher and David Caffrey in the forward line. The Senior Team play Calry/St. Joseph's in Hazelwood on Sunday afternoon (Throw-in 2.00pm) in the Division 2 League. Training continues for the Squad this week on Tuesday and Friday. 400 Club Draw Our 400 Club Draw was launched on Thursday evening last in our clubhouse. The 400 club is being set up in order to raise badly needed funds to continue with our ground improvement/development plans.
