U-14
Congratulations to the U-14 side who clinched the U-14 'A' League Title with deserved victory over a talented Castleconner side last Friday week. The team followed up on this win with a comprehensive victory over Tubbercurry in the 'A' Championship in Kent Park on Friday evening last.
U-12
We played away to Coolera/Strandhill last Thursday evening. Both St. Mary's teams came away with wins. We were due to play at home in the quarter finals on Tuesday evening, June 9th.
U-10
Our U-10 matches versus Calry/St Joseph's were 2 close encounters. We drew one and lost the other by a single point. Our captains Cormac Murray and Kevin Connell played central roles in keeping us in touch in both games. Thanks to all who came out to offer support on that damp evening. Our last league matches versus Coolera were played last week in the beautiful sunshine. We lost both matches but our players did very well considering they were missing a few players - there was a clash with a Community Games soccer match. Our captains were Thomas Maher and David Watters. Thomas stepped into goals for the second half of the game to help to keep us in touch and David encouraged his team by working tirelessly in defence. We play the semi-final this evening (Wednesday) against Ballisodare at home at 6pm and the final is on Saturday in St. Molaise Gaels at 11am.
U-8/U-10 Blitzes
Congratulations to the U-8 and U-10 teams that competed in the Blitzes on Saturday. In what was a very successful day, each and every one of them played very well and was a credit to the club. Thanks to all parents who went up to support and gave lifts. Donal Keaveny and Hubert Gilvarry excelled throughout for the U-8's. For the U10's Donal Fidgeon played great in his 2 matches, Scott Lynch played outfield for the 1st time and scored some excellent points and Ruairdhi Mulligan had his best performance ever.
Saturday Morning Coaching
Coaching continues for Children aged 5 to 12 each Saturday Morning from 10:30am to 12pm. Children are introduced to Gaelic Football where they are coached in the skills of the game. Why not encourage your children to try this out. Qualified coaches are in attendance every Saturday. Any parents who are interested in helping out can contact Joe Campbell on 086 8381270. On Saturday morning last, numbers were diminished due to blitzes, but it was encouraging to see some of the current Senior Panel coaching some of the stars of the future. We ask more coaches to make themselves available each Saturday to cater for the growing attendances.
Senior
The Senior side won away to St. Molaise Gaels on Sunday afternoon last in the Division 2 League. In a game played in difficult crossfield conditions it was the home side that opened the scoring with a pointed free. Mary's soon began to exert dominance around the middle third and a number of flowing moves resulted in pointed scores and a well worked goal from Stephen Coen. However, the home side got back into contention before half time following the concession of a sloppy goal from play and a number of points from placed balls. Half time score St. Mary's 1-9 St. Molaise Gaels 1-6. It was the visitors that opened the scoring in the second half with a point and following Trojan work around the middle by the half forward line and midfield the lead was extended further with a brace of points. Mary's suffered a blow midway through the half with the concession of a second goal as the home side clawed their way back into contention. However, the visitors held firm to win on a scoreline of St. Mary's 1-16 St. Molaise Gaels 2-9. The Senior Team play St. Farnan's at home on Saturday evening at 7.30pm in the Division 2 League. Training continues for the Squad this week on Tuesday and Friday.
