Sligo minor boss undecided on future

Bernard Mulhern's future as manager of the Sligo minor football team is uncertain following his side's agonising one-point defeat in the Connacht championship to Galway last Saturday.
The Sligo boss refused to make a decision on his future position with the team after watching them lose out to the provincial kingpins at Tuam Stadium, and instead wanted to concentrate on the positives of the performance.
"In the aftermath of a bitterly disappointing defeat, it is best to take some time for reflection before making a decision about the future. My position is a matter for another day," he said.
Reflecting on the game itself, Mulhern admitted that his side did not take all the chances that came their way and that Galway's clinching goal arrived from unlucky circumstances on Sligo's behalf.
"We could have done with a bigger cushion at half-time but we asked the lads to step up a gear after the break and they responded magnificently," said Mulhern.
"Even after Galway got their goal, which was the result of an unfortunate break of the ball for us, the lads didn't give in. We finished the stronger team and I felt we were desperately unlucky on the night."
