Minor
The panel are taking time out for the Leaving Cert exams and training for the Championship will resume in late June. Commiserations to Bernie Mulhern and his Sligo Minor Team on their narrow defeat to Galway in the Connacht Minor Championship last Saturday evening in Tuam. James Thompson featured at wing forward and Stephen Hargadon was part of the Squad.
U-16
We lost out to Shamrock Gaels in Coola in the 'A' League Semi Final on a scoreline of 3-8 to 1-5 on Thursday evening last. Trailing by six points at the interval, Mary's dominated much of the second period but failed to match the home sides clinical finishing on the scoreboard. Best for Mary's were Ben McGarry at centre half back and Seamie Cawley at corner forward. Training continues this week.
U-14
Hard luck to the Summerhill College First Year Gaelic team and their coach Mark Breheny who lost the Connacht 1st year 'B' final to Roscommon C.B.S. after extra time. 10 of our club U-14 panel were involved with the school team with 5 starting the final. The players involved were Ryan McManus, Liam Henry, Gerard O'Kelly Lynch, Cian Breheny, Dylan Corcoran, Jake Dykes, Aaron McGoldrick, Peter Kelly, Stephen Henry and Rory Molloy.
U-14 Girls
Well done to the Ursuline College Girls U-14 school team who won the Connacht Schools 'A' title last week beating Coláiste Iognaid (The Jes) Galway by 4-10 to 2-7 in the final. No fewer than 13 girls from last years all conquering U-14 club team were involved with the Ursuline College team (10 played). This was a fantastic achievement for the girls coming from a school with little tradition in girls Gaelic football and who are winning their first 'A' title. During their glorious campaign they defeated school teams from Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo and Galway and are now undefeated in 2 years in schools football. The players involved from St. Mary's were: Eavan McLoughlin, Sadbh Brennan, Aoife Connolly, Niamh Rushe, Laura Philips, Hayley Kilgallon, Melissa Gillen, Aoife Finan, Emma O'Connell, Kasie O'Reilly, Kelly Lee Lynch, Megan Walsh and Laura Burke.
U-12
Training for all players continues on Mondays at 5.30pm. We played Calry/St. Joseph's in Kent Park last Thursday evening. Both St. Mary's teams came away with wins. We were due to play at home to Ballymote on Tuesday May 12th.
Paddy Clifford Memorial Cup (U-12)
On Saturday week May 30th the club host the annual Paddy Clifford Memorial Cup. This is a competition for U-12 teams and this year the organising committee have invited teams from 7 different counties to take part. The teams taking part are Claregalway (Galway), Roscommon Gaels (Roscommon), Glencar/Manorhamilton (Leitrim), Castlebar Mitchels (Mayo), Enniskillen Gaels (Fermanagh), St. Eunan's (Donegal), Calry/St. Joseph's and St. Mary's (Sligo). It promises
to be a wonderful day of entertainment both for players and supporters. More details next week.
Saturday Morning Coaching
Coaching continues for Children aged 5 to 12 each Saturday Morning from 10:30am to 12pm. Children are introduced to Gaelic Football where they are coached in the skills of the game. Why not encourage your children to try this out. Qualified coaches are in attendance every Saturday. Any parents who are interested in helping out can contact Joe Campbell on 086 8381270. We ask more coaches to make themselves available each Saturday to cater for the growing attendances.
Lá na gClub
Well done to Tom Gavin, Aaron McGoldrick, Luke Nicholson and Hadi Mousa who were the only 4 contestants out of 65 who scored penalties against all 3 goalkeepers (Glen Young, Mark Rooney and Brian Collery) in the Lá na gClub fun day. Aaron was crowned the undisputed penalty king after a shoot out with the other 3. We once again thank all who helped and had a part in the celebration. Keep an eye on the Club website for photos of the day.
Multicultural Day
The Multicultural Day "Gaelic for All" organised by Sligo City GAA Board attracted 25 children and 10 parents to Kent Park on Saturday last. The children who attend local schools came from 7 different nations and they saw camogie, hurling and football games and skills being demonstrated by boys and girls from the city area. The event was attended by John Murphy Sligo County Board Chairman. Coaching was conducted by Liam Óg Gormley and his coaching team as well as club members from Naomh Eoin, Calry/St. Joseph's and St. Mary's. We thank Joe Campbell and his band of Saturday morning coaches in facilitating the event and the link teachers in St. John's, Mercy and Ursula schools who promoted the day. Hopefully some of the New Irish players will feature with Sligo club and county boys and girls teams in future.

Stephen Coen (1-1) and Donnacha Gallagher (0-5) both featured prominently on the Sligo Junior Team that lost out to Roscommon on Friday evening.
