Mulhern hoping for a bit of luck

Sligo begin their ESB Connacht Minor Football Championship this Saturday when they travel to Tuam to take on Galway, where their manager Bernard Mulhern believes a bit of good fortune can see them through.
The Yeats' County has been starved of minor success on the provincial stage for 41 years now and they could hardly have asked for a tougher assignment then away to the young Tribesmen, who they lost out to heavily when the two sides met in the Connacht League earlier on in the year.
However, Mulhern is optimistic that his side will fair much better this weekend against the same opposition.
"I couldn't have asked for more from the players in terms of commitment. We demanded a lot of hard work and commitment from the lads and the response has been terrific," he said.
"Our preparations have gone very well and there's no doubt that there's tremendous potential in the squad. There's a great crop of young players coming through in Sligo, which augurs well for the future, and we just hope that we can get the few breaks this year which could be the difference between success and failure."
It is believed that team captain Pat Hughes will be partnered by James Clarke at centre-field when Mulhern picks his starting 15, while key Denis Coffey, James Thompson and Brian Egan could all line out in attack for the Tuam Stadium encounter.
