Dalton relishing Rhode showdown

October 10, 2014

Richie Dalton says he and his Edenderry team mates are fully aware of the size of the task they face against Rhode this Sunday.

Edenderry face Rhode looking for their second Offaly SFC crown in four years and their captain says it is a game that they are relishing.

"Growing up it's the one you want to play in," Dalton told the Midland Tribune. "You always want to be there on the day to play Rhode. We are just delighted to be there.

"We know Rhode are a very good side, they have been around for a good few years. They are the top team in Offaly. They are very good, we are just going to worry about ourselves and keep our heads down and focus on the job and give it a lash."

Having come up against them so many times in the past, Dalton knows what to expect from Rhode when the ball is thrown in in Tullamore at 3.30pm on Sunday.

"We are well aware of it being a big ask," he said. "Rhode are the form team for the last 10 years. We know they are around a while, they have their strengths but they have weaknesses as well and that was shown last year in the final. Hopefully we will tap into that as well."
