Rhode have appointed Gerry Hickey as their new manager for the coming year.

Hickey takes over from Tom Coffey, who has left the club and taken up the reins at Westmeath club Athlone.

The Rhode native was over Walsh Island for the past few years, but returns to his roots where he will try and regain the senior title with the club.

Meanwhile, in another big managerial move, Phil O'Reilly returns to manage his home club Tullamore after they had a disappointing campaign in 2011.
