JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Hurlers suffered their second defeat of their Championship campaign in their fourth round encounter against Kilcormac / Killoughey last Thursday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 2-03 to 2-10 on a damp drizzly evening with the Raheen players finding it difficult to adapt to the greasy conditions underfooth. The first half is best forgotten for Raheen as they failed to register a score despite having a few chances and K/K getting off the mark with 1-05.The first 10 minutes of the second half saw Raheen finally put scores on the boards as they sent over 3 points in a row from Jason Hassett, Cathal Maher and Paddy Rigney followed by a pointed free for K/K. Then in the 13th minute Raheen gave themselves hope that a comeback might be on the cards as they got through to score their opening goal when Danny McEvoy sent a pass across the field in front of the square to Cathal Maher who pulled first time to fire the ball back across the square to the corner of the net but this was wiped over the next 5 minutes with another 3 points for K/K. Then in the 23rd minute Raheen again reduced the defecit to 3 points by scoring their second goal when Danny McEvoy picked up the ball about 40m out and ran the whole way into the square before blasting his shot to the net. This which would prove to be Raheen's final score of the game as over the remaining 7 minutes K/K wrapped up the win by adding another 1-01.
